The Centre celebrates its 30th Birthday and makes presentation to longest-serving shop.

The Harvey Centre celebrates its 30th Birthday between now and the end of 2012 and will be holding a number of events to mark the occasion. Prior to those events, the Centre has recently undergone a facelift, brightening and freshening the ambience in the heart of the scheme, giving itself a makeover as a special present!

In addition, the Centre Manager, Bryan Young presented the Harvey Centre's longest-serving store, Eversden & Son Jewellers with a memento to mark the occasion on Thursday 15th December.

Due to the Centre's recent refurbishment, the Centre's own clock will no longer hang in its accustomed position in the mall and rather than hide it away in storage, Centre Management decided it would be more appropriate to present it to Mr and Mrs Eversden to commemorate their store and as a gift from the Centre; in addition there were also presents of champagne, flowers and chocolates for the couple and their son, who has now taken over the business.

Mr and Mrs Eversden who have worked together in the business for the entire 30 years and who have no plans to either close the shop or retire just yet, were delighted with the presentation of the clock, flowers, champagne and chocolates, "We enjoy seeing our regular customers who have become friends." Mr Eversden also paid tribute to his wife's hard work, claiming "she has never had a day off", although she did not agree!

Keith Eversden who joined the family business five years ago, shares his parents passion for the business although he has also expanded their range from specialising in clocks into jewellery, "People no longer buy long case or formal clocks, although they do still buy watches. In fact we look after Robert Halfon MP's watches, he's a regular customer of ours and a great collector of watches and my Father keeps his hand in looking after his watches and the clocks of other regulars."

Centre Manager, Bryan Young said, "2012 is due to be a big year for Harlow with the Olympics, the Town's 65th anniversary and of course, the Harvey Centre's 30th Birthday! We want to kick off the year with the presentation of a bright, modern, revamp of the Centre for our loyal shoppers and we want to celebrate that throughout the year.

"We also want to take this opportunity to celebrate our longest-serving tenant, Eversden & Son which has been in the same shop in Playhouse Walk since the Centre opened. We hope the whole of Harlow will join in the celebrations and in wishing Eversden & Son 30 more years in Harlow."
