News and EventsMeet the winner of our 'Search for Wendy' with The PlayhouseThe result of a campaign to find an actress to play a major role in this year’s Harlow The 'Search for Wendy' competition, sponsored by the Harvey Shopping Centre Harlow in association with the Open Auditions for the key role of 'Wendy Darling' were held earlier this month and judges were so impressed by the standard of applicants that they decided to offer parts to three actresses instead of one. As well as the Wendy role, two further supporting and understudy roles have been offered. The iconic part of Wendy will be played by Amber Wallis (24), from Hertfordshire, who impressed judges with her all-round ability. Harlow Joining the production will also be Bella Wright (18), from Bishop’s Stortford, and Emily Black (19), from Sawbridgeworth. Peter Pan Director Guy Pascall said: “We had a really tough time deciding which girl to offer the part of Wendy to. In the end we realised we could accommodate two of the other girls in other parts and are delighted they’re on board. “Bella used to work part-time at Pearson’s Department Store in Bishop’s Stortford and Emily was brought up in Old Harlow, so it’s nice for them to have this chance locally.” They will be joining a cast that includes Chris ‘Burnside’ Ellison as Captain Hook, CBBC’s Kerwhizzitor Jacob Scipio as Peter Pan, and local favourite Tom Swift as Smee.
