The Centre and Harlow Playhouse - the Search for Wendy!

The centre has teamed up with the Playhouse and Peter Pan producers Enchanted Entertainment to back the 'Search for Wendy' contest.

Open Auditions for the key role of Wendy Darling will be held at the Playhouse on Wednesday, October 5 from 10am. Applicants who make it through will then be recalled on October 12 for a second audition, after which time a decision will be made.

A young female performer aged 17+ is required for the role and must either be based in, or come from, Harlow Playhouse's audience catchment area in East Hertfordshire or West Essex.

Auditions will consist of singing, dancing and acting and will be judged by the Peter Pan production team. The successful candidate will be offered a professional paid contract for the show, which runs from December 2-January 2.

Bryan Young, Centre Manager said, "We are delighted to be able to work with the Playhouse to support this superb opportunity for a young actress. We are hopeful that this 'Search for Wendy' will uncover a brand new local talent who we are sure will go onto enjoy great success on the stage. We are always keen to nurture talent and encourage ambition and look forward to seeing all the entrants to the competition strut their stuff on the audition stage."

Harlow Playhouse manager Scott Ramsay said: "We're delighted to be working with the Harvey Centre on our biggest production of the year. As well as being neighbours, we also enjoy a close working relationship. This sponsorship agreement is one outcome of our joint passion to draw people into Harlow Town Centre - between us we provide a super shopping and entertainment offer in the run up to Christmas and the New Year. "

Peter Pan is presented by the Playhouse and Enchanted Entertainment in association with Academy Arts Theatre School and Jacqui Ison Theatre Arts School.
