The Centre's stores got together to put on a Wedding Extravaganza on Saturday 7th May

The Harvey Centre and its stores put on a Wedding Extravaganza at the Centre on Saturday 7th May, with a little help from friends at The Playhouse Theatre and Manor of Groves in a celebration of all things matrimonial.  Hundreds of expectant brides, grooms and excited families thronged the Centre’s atrium where over a dozen stalls and a catwalk had been set up.

Excited visitors enjoyed four catwalk shows, browsed the stalls and picked up great ideas and tips around the Centre as they enjoyed the event, especially arranged to help engaged couples, parents and families plan their special day.

A host of the Centre’s stores took part with D&Q Weddings and Kodo Fashions providing exquisite dresses for brides, bridesmaids and flower girls, plus stunning evening wear. Menswear was supplied by D&Q Weddings and the models’ hair and make-up was created by expert staff from Legends Hair, JPs Hair & Beauty and Nazila’s Lash Brow Beauty.

Other stores provided expert advice and information, including Gigi's Hair and Beauty; Munchies Cakes, who also kept the crowds’ strength up with free samples of delicious wedding cake; H Samuel who advised on the all-important wedding ring decisions; La Senza and Marks & Spencer who advised on the delicate matter of the wedding lingerie and Claire’s who advised on cute accessories, especially for the younger flower girls.  Information and advice on parties, party favours, gifts, goodies and honeymoons was supplied by The Party Place, Changing Rooms, Clinton Cards and Thomas Cook. There were also staff on hand from local wedding venues Manor of Groves and Paradise Wildlife Park.

Additional glamour was provided by the stunning Rolls Royce Phantom provided by ASL Executive Car Hire and Jack Ingles from J&M Pianos played a selection of beautiful, moving and inspiring music on a Baby Grand Piano which had everyone in the wedding mood.

And if all that excitement wasn’t enough, the Centre received goodies from tenants which were giving away including a pair of Gold Series Hair Stylers from Legends, won by Petrina Mullally of Harlow; a beautiful Wedding Cake from Munchies Cakes worth £400, won by Hayley McCarthy of Harlow; two bottles of Champagne donated by Marks & Spencer, won by Dan Webb and Sadie Gregg respectively, and a must-have honeymoon Moroccanoil Hair Kit from GiGi’s Hair & Beauty, won by Donna Nixon also of Harlow!

Bryan Young, Centre Manager of the Harvey Centre said, “We were absolutely delighted by the warm reception given by the public to our fantastic Wedding Fair.  Our tenants, friends and colleagues from The Playhouse, Manor of Groves and Paradise Wildlife Park amongst others, did us proud and provided a fabulous show and terrific experience for our visitors.

“We are grateful to the support provided by all the tenants who participated in the event. They were hugely enthusiastic and the public responded.  Our thanks also go to the models, men, women and our outstanding flower girls and page boy.  It was a long and intense day for those who strutted their stuff on the catwalk but they showed off the fabulous clothes beautifully and were enthusiastically supported by the crowds watching!”
