News and EventsMemorable messages for our Magnificent Mums!
'Message for Mum' winner Caroline Jeewan & son Thomas collect her prizes
‘Mother’s Day was certainly memorable for the lucky Harlow mums whose children popped into the Harvey Centre the weekend before to record their special ‘Message for Mum’ videos. The Centre had arranged for a team to be on the malls all day the weekend prior to Mother’s Day giving children of all ages the chance to tell the world just how special their mothers were. There were some superb, amusing, touching and delightful messages and the public had a chance to vote on their favourite by watching them on the Harvey Centre’s website. Pictured is our lucky winning mother, Caroline Jeewan of Epping with nine-year old son Thomas and Centre Deputy Operations Manager Simon Plumb and Gladys Wright of Gigi’s Hair and Beauty. Caroline and Thomas popped into the Centre last week to pick up their prizes from Simon, of a £50 Argos voucher and a wash, cut and blow-dry from Gigi’s. Said Caroline, “I was surprised and delighted to hear that Thomas’ message had been voted the winner. We were fundraising for Café Youth in Harlow’s West Gate that weekend when Thomas went off around the Centre with one of my friends. I had no idea that he had recorded a message until it went up on the Centre’s website. I was so touched that I rang my husband at work so that he could watch it as well. We are both so proud of Thomas!” Mrs Jeewan opted for a voucher from Argos so that she could enjoy choosing something that Thomas can share as well; she is also looking forward to a bit of pampering at Gigi’s. And her generosity doesn’t stop there, she asked that the other prize donated by JP’s Hair and Beauty go to the Mum of the video with the second highest number of votes and we were delighted to contact Mrs Burton, also of Harlow, who was thrilled. Harvey Centre Manager Bryan Young said, “I’m so delighted that so many children participated in our Message for Mum event. It was lovely to watch their touching messages and we hope that Mothers in Harlow were spoiled by their families on that day. Our congratulations go to Thomas and Mrs Jeewan and Ashley and Mrs Burton and our thanks to Thorntons which supported us with delicious chocolates for the kids to give to their mothers.” |
